Total Knee Replacement
I was having intermittent sever pain in my right knee. My knee had been bone on bone for several years and replacing it was inevitable. There was so much pain that I had to reduce the number of miles I walked each day. I also had to severely curtail my participation in my Total Resistance eXercise (TRX) and High-intensity interval training (HIIT) classes. My inactivity was interfering with my daily life. I love to eat and in order for me to do that and maintain good health I must exercise every day. I am approaching my 70th birthday so daily maintenance is required to keep my metabolism working at optimum levels.
I first heard of Dr. Bryan after a friend of mine sent me an article that she had come across about Dr. Bryan and the XP Biomet Knee. I was very interested in meeting with him and talking about the XP knee. Dr. Bryan and his staff are excellent to work with and I could not be happier with my experience. I trusted and felt so comfortable with Dr. Bryan that I was in surgery only two weeks after my appointment with his office. I received a total replacement of my right knee using the XP Biomet knee at Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital.
I had a very pleasant experience at Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital. I attribute my positive experience to the fact it is a small hospital specifically focused on orthopedics. The rooms are large and thoughtfully planned to accommodate overnight furniture for family members if necessary. The staff was experienced, professional and, most importantly, very caring. I never waited more than 5 minutes for a response to a request for assistance.
I had my left knee replaced 10 years ago and the experience with this knee replacement is 100% different. Every day I am amazed at my level of progress. There has been far less pain than with my previous knee which has made it possible to progress quickly. At this rate, my recovery will take a third of the time that it took to recover from my last procedure.
At the moment I am only four weeks post operative and I can tell that I will be back at full speed in the very near future. I am back to doing TRX and HIIT classes and will be adding walking back to my workout starting with a 7 minute half mile and building back up to my usual 5 miles four days a week.
